Someone pointed me towards the Nick Stone series, written by Andy McNab. I had recently just watched the movie Bravo Two Zero which was taken from the book of the same name by Andy McNab, so his name stuck out at me. It helped that I was immediately able to picture Nick Stone as “Sean Bean”, the leading actor in Bravo Two Zero. The Nick Stone series accounts for the bulk of McNab’s work to date, with 17 books currently, starting with Remote Control. However, McNab has created several other characters, and does not only write for adults; his Dropzone and The New Recruit series are both intended for young adults. Dark Winter has the tough (and battered) Nick Stone back in business, still parleying the skills he learnt in the SAS into his new role as a Special Intelligence Service operative.

For security reasons, Andy McNab's location is classified. There have been a couple of standouts where I couldn't just read the 1st book with these Nick Stone books being at the top of my list! I must say that Andy McNab is a bit wordy at times but after having read the 1st 3 books, I definitely love this character! Andy McNab carries that fine balance where is able to describe everything in gritty detail, but also leave a lot to the users imagination. What I really like about the Andy McNab books is it’s not all action.

I am reviewing the SAS thriller Silencer by Andy McNab which is an excellent novel which I bought from kindle. This is the 15th installment in the Nick Stone series about an ex SAS soldier who is quite poor but makes a living doing covert missions.
